Dr. James Wang is an internationally renowned expert in manned/unmanned eVTOL aircraft and helicopter designing and operation. His expertise spans across technology and business in the aviation and eVTOL industry and his advice is highly sought after.
In 2013, WIRED Magazine named him “the Steve Jobs of Rotorcraft” for inventing the world’s first all-electric VTOL technology demonstrator aircraft – the AgustaWestland Project Zero.
Dr. Wang has held several executive leadership positions, including as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Customer Services, and as Vice President of Research and Technology at Leonardo Helicopters; and at Sikorsky Aircraft worked on numerous famous helicopter designs and engineering programs, and led Strategic Sales that culminated in multi-billions of dollars in international sales. He is now a professor and the Director of the eVTOL Research & Innovation Centre at Nanyang Technological University.
He received his bachelor degrees in Aeronautics and in Electrical Engineering from M.I.T., a master’s from M.I.T. Sloan Business School and a PhD in rotorcraft design from the University of Maryland. He holds numerous patents and major international awards, including Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, UTC Gold Mead Award, VFS Honorary Fellow, AHS Grover Bell Award, AHS Fellow, M.I.T. Luis de Florez Award, NASA Research Award, Finmeccanica Innovation Gold Award, Italian National Innovation Grand Prize, and the coveted Royal Aeronautical Society

Derek Cheng,
Derek Cheng is the Head of Commercial Asia-Pacific at Vertical Aerospace. He is responsible for leading all commercial, business and partnership development activities for Vertical in the Asia-Pacific region.
He was previously Head of Asia-Pacific for Airbus Urban Mobility, and more recently the Head of Asia-Pacific for Government & Public Affairs, and Strategic Partnerships for Airbus group (Commercial Aircraft, Helicopters, Defence & Space), where he was responsible for leading Airbus’ APAC regional business development strategy, industrial and sustainable aviation partnerships. From 2016-2020, Derek helmed various positions in Airbus’ Strategy & International organisation in Airbus HQ in Toulouse.
Phil Carter,
Phil Carter leads the Aerospace and Advanced Materials trade and investment promotion team. He joined the Department for Business and Trade from the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office where he worked in a series of prosperity and economic roles. Before this he was a consultant working on government reforms in developing countries for clients including the World Bank, European Commission and UK Government. His MSc was on human factors in the aerospace industry, and he holds a private pilot license.
Alan Lim,
Alan is a key member of Alton Aviation Consultancy’s technology and mobility practice. Based in Singapore, Alan is a seasoned aviation professional with a decade of management consulting and line management experience.
Alan has been working with stakeholders across the advanced air mobility (AAM) value chain to help them understand and formulate their strategies to prepare for the commercialization of this sector. They include OEMs, operators, airports, and investors who have shown a keen interest in the AAM sector. Alan is a trusted advisor to the firm’s clients, and is well-versed in strategic planning, market demand forecasting, and business process improvement.
Alan began his career at Singapore Airlines, working across both operations and commercial departments. In particular, he was one of the pioneer members of the airline’s Business Transformation team, where he helped to kickstart its three-year long transformation program.
Oliver Walker-Jones
Oliver Walker-Jones leads Communications, Marketing and Brand at Joby - a California-based company pioneering air taxis. Joby has spent more than a decade developing its revolutionary aircraft in partnership with industry giants including NASA, Toyota, Delta and Uber and its vision is to drive a revolution in carbon-free air travel. As the company’s first marketing lead, he has led the communications of major company milestones including the listing of the business on the New York Stock Exchange in 2021, and the acquisition of Uber Elevate.
Oliver previously worked at German air taxi competitor Lilium and, before that, led global communications for the aerospace division at Rolls-Royce. He has a background in political campaigning and has worked for politicians on both sides of the Atlantic. Oliver holds an MA in Social and Political Science from Cambridge University.

GURS, as a non-profit organization where total 18 international cities, airports, universities, and R&D institutions participate, is an global cooperation body for UAM ecosystem fostering and support in each region. Kwang-ho An has been in public service since 1991 and posted many columns for an Incheon based newspaper.

Mr Tan Kah Han is the Chief Technology Officer / Senior Director (Unmanned Systems Group) of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS). As a member of CAAS’ senior management team, his responsibilities include developing aviation sector technology and R&D roadmap, developing safety policy, safety oversight and facilitating the use of unmanned aircraft systems and, future aviation technologies in Singapore.
Mr Tan joined the CAAS in 2009 and was appointed as Director (Airworthiness / Flight Operations) in October 2010 and Senior Director (Safety Regulation) in Jan 2017 before assuming his latest appointment in Sept 2020. Prior to joining CAAS, Mr. Tan spent 25 years and held many senior appointments in the Republic of Singapore Air Force. Mr. Tan is a pilot and is rated in Airbus A‐320 and Boeing B737.

Sascha Oliver Schott,
For more than 17 years, Sascha has worked in various positions within EASA. He currently serves as Drones Section Manager in the Executive Directorate. Prior to EASA, he held positions in three European airlines and in an airline safety audit company of the Lufthansa Group. Sascha has two Masters Degrees and is an active General Aviation pilot.
Chris Carter,
Chris Carter has served as the Director of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Asia-Pacific Region,
located in Singapore, since June 2021. In this role, Chris provides leadership and promotes US interests
advancing civil aviation safety and efficiency in the Asia-Pacific Region. He leads a staff of twenty people
located in offices in Beijing, New Delhi and Tokyo as well as Singapore and Washington, DC. His office acts
as liaison to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the International Air Transport Association (IA TA).

Willy Lee is a Senior Aviation Business Manager at Volocopter, spearheading the establishment of Volocopter's operations in Singapore, spanning compliance, flight and ground operations, engineering and maintenance, training, safety, security, quality, and crisis management. Prior to the current role, Willy was the Director for Safety, Security, Sustainability and Quality with Scoot, a Singaporean low-cost airline and a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore Airlines. Jacey Cornwell is Senior Aviation Consultant at To70 Aviation. He has a background in Air Traffic Control, Air Traffic Management (ATM), operational risk and assurance, and ATM projects. Jacey leads the AAM and Prescribed Airspace practice Down Under. Prior to joining To70, Jacey operated airspace spanning the south-east coast of Australia, managed diverse airspace and operations. As Safety Liaison at Airservices Australia, Jacey developed stakeholder management skills and implemented national risk measures. On the OneSKY Program, Jacey worked closely with the Program Director to coordinate and deliver Australia’s next-generation ATM system.

Augustine Tai,
Augustine Tai is the Head of Business Development (APAC) for Eve Air Mobility. He leads Eve’s Business Development in APAC, being responsible for the sales strategy of Eve’s eVTOL and Services, for securing Partnerships throughout the UAM ecosystem, and for supporting future operations in the APAC region.
Augustine brings to the team over 21 years of experience in the aviation and aerospace sectors, and his experience includes Technical Services, Production Management, Program Management, Airline Line Operations and Sales, covering both MRO and OEM segments. Prior to joining Eve, Augustine held the role of Services & Support (Commercial Aviation) Director (APAC) at Embraer. Captain Rangaraja “Raja” Iyengar, Ph.D., is an avid fan of aviation and is a true aviator in the most fundamental sense. He has turned an enthusiasm for aircraft and flying into building a game-changing venture.
After nearly two decades in global corporate finance leadership roles, he decided to transform his passion for flying into his full-time profession. Having identified an opportunity to be part of a manufacturer of small aircraft, he harnessed his passion to make his vision a reality.
In 2019, Capt. Iyengar amalgamated various businesses into Aerodyne Aerospace Holdings Ltd., a venture that aims to redefine personal travel and set the AAM (Advanced Air Mobility) business on a solid footing. His vision is simple yet ambitious: make flying as accessible and affordable as driving, all the while prioritizing safety and security.
Captain Eme Arizal Mohd Mahidin
Capt Eme has been in the aviation industry for more than three decades in various capacities, he has gathered valuable experience and exposure to various aspects of the industry.
He is currently flying the A330 fleet for AirasiaX as a Captain and also A330 Flight Instructor.

first Beyond-Visual-Line-of-Sight (BVLOS) approval in Singapore in 2019. Today, DroNet incorporated with
its leading edge AI for inspection, surveillance and security use cases, has accumulated over 15,000 BVLOS
flight sorties and qualified for operations in medium to high risk environment.

Desmond Tay is responsible for catalysing and supporting innovation with the maritime industry at MPA. He seeks to create an enabling environment, such as PIER71™ and the Maritime Drone Estate, to support marinetech start-ups to develop POCs and run trials in Singapore. He currently holds an MBA from University of Adelaide and has spent more than 18 years in managing and architecting IT systems.

Daisuke Kubo is a researcher working for Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency. He has 20 years of experience in unmanned aircraft system research including a variety of technology fields—flight dynamics, flight control, airframe design, and operations technologies. He was a visiting researcher at NASA Ames Research Center working for UTM (2017-2018). His current main research is for low altitude traditional General Aviation (GA) and Advance Air Mobility (AAM) airspace integration.
Vignesh Santhanam,
Vignesh Santhanam serves as the India Lead for Aerospace and Drones at the World Economic Forum India Centre. He played a key role in the development and launch of the ‘Medicine from the Sky’ program in 2021, which is now being extended to the Himalayan region. Vignesh also leads the India chapter of AVIATE, an Initiave on Advanced Air Mobility announced by the forum at the Paris Air Show in June 2023. With a background in software engineering and an MBA, Vignesh has accumulated over 15 years of industry experience, working with technology accounts in Eastern Europe, SE Asia, North America, North Africa, and the Middle East. He also served as the first President and Founding Member of the Drone Federation of India, focusing on industry advocacy, governance, and policy initiatives. Vignesh has authored several reports and public articles on the uses and potential of drones.

Terence Yeo is the Head of New Markets in the Asia Pacific region for Zipline, the world 's largest on-demand
autonomous delivery system. Appointed to establish Zipline's APAC operations in 2023, he is the first hire in
the region as the company evolves from providing long range drone deliveries to also incorporating urban home delivery solutions into their product offerings.
Ali Jahanshahi
As an aviation entrepreneur, Ali Jahanshahi has been involved in the aerospace industry for the past 10 years, as a co-founder of AirGo Design. A Singaporean startup focusing on innovative lightweight composite turn-key solutions. The company have been heavily involved in component design development in the Advanced Air Mobility industry, specifically drone delivery solutions, such as DroneBox World's 1st standardised certified drone container.

A. Please register online to attend as a visitor or delegate. Please note that passes are strictly non-transferable and valid for the registered visitor only.

A. Delegate passes for GUAAS Asia 2023 are available for $1,295 dollars providing access to both days of the event.
